Hi, I’m Tomoko, born and raised in Tokyo, Japan.   Although I’ve lived in America more than I lived in Tokyo, I’ve been avoiding American food until I got married, but thanks to my American husband, now I have a new appreciation for it.  That was a polite statement.  The truth is, my world turned up side down when I married a Jewish American guy, who doesn’t like Japanese food staple such as fish, rice and some unidentifiable ubiquitous taste he claims is in every asian dish, “asian seasoning”.  I eat variety of international food, but for some reason, I’ve never really experienced “American food” until now.  Now, I have whole new cooking repertoire as well as list of restaurants.  Thanks to my humorously picky husband, I’m turning (off) Japanese…
